Adaora (Blood Hunt)

 

Blood Hunt, a romantic fantasy based on African mythology and set in 1865, is based on the search for the first-born daughter of a late king. It is described by producers as an " African epic that explores the themes of monarchy, witchcraft, loyalty, jealousy & sacrifice". sacrifice". Twenty eight year old Danie Bester got his feature film break on Blood Hunt. Bester and his crew shot the entire film in just 22 days.

The main location was the Hennops River near Hartebeespoort Dam.

 

Producer Bongeka Ogoke spoke to Screen Africa 2 days after filming wrapped. " Blood Hunt was privately financed through my husband's Nigerian company, Xhosa Investments. But we would not have been able to make this film without our incredibly supportive crew & cast, who worked for well below their normal rates." The film was shot in English with no subtitles.

Among the cast are four Nigerians in the lead roles - Zack Orji, Victor Nnachetam, Rachel Oniga and Steffy Ochereke. South African cast members include Lillian Dube, Rapulana Sephemo, Abena Ayivor, Kim Engelbrecht and Sisana Henna
